Full description
When printing text and charts with small fonts and details high level of gloss can be an obstacle. At the same time, double sided leaflets and advertisement usualy contain a lot of text information. Lomond Glossy/Matt coated papers were created for these types of applications. While Glossy side can be used for printing vivid and bright image, the Matt side can be used for detailed text or graphical explanation, which will not be obstructed by "shiny" coating.
Glossy papers have smooth, shiny surface. They are the best solution for reproducing bright, vivid images with a lot of halftones and gradations. Glossy papers are a classical solution for photoprinting. These papers are best when used with dye-based ink. Pigment ink with larger particles may not be fully absorbed by the coating. Dye based ink dry faster and created a brighter and more vivid image.
Lomond Matt papers are used for printing of photorealistic images, advertisements, portfolios, photo portraits, etc. For lighter paper weights smaller ink coverage is recommended, while medium and heavy papers can be used with higher ink limits. Papers absorb ink fast and are dry instantly. Another side of the sheet can be used immediately after printing the first one.
When magnified, matt coating looks similar to range of high hills and mountains. That is why reflected light is spread in all directions under different angles. Images printed on Matt papers are 100% antiglare, have high contrast and precise color reproduction. They are the best choice for applications which should not strain eyes. At the same time the color gamut is a bit smaller than of Glossy-coated papers and the optical densite in the dak areas can be lower.
